| The
Airfield
The Cascais Airfield is located in a top quality tourist area on the Estoril coast. This privileged situation and the quality of facilities and services offered, add to the increasing demand for this airfield by business and executive traffic. In fact, it is the second largest airport in the Lisbon region. It is an important generator of local and regional development because of its excellent access and ability to handle the traffic and passengers. The lighted landing strip is 1700 meters long, complying with all the ICAO rules, can handle up to 40 tons of traffic, has approach lights and an Apapis. Other features of this airfield include Air Traffic Control, Movement and Airport Operations, a 24 hr security service, dispatch, weather forecast, fire and first aid services, supplies and refuelling, maintenance and aircraft services, a restaurant, shops and an ATM. A communications and weather forecast equipment is in place with regards to the airfield’s airspace and to its own Control Zone (CTR). To assure the security of all IFR flights, procedures to enter and leave this CTR have been created with full compatibility with the existing Sid’s/ Star’s available on the Lisbon Control Terminal Zone (TMA). These procedures are supported by two navigation radio aids, a NDB locator and the a VOR/DME. There are many reasons why this airport
is increasingly in demand from General Aviation: The Cascais Airfield has several flight
schools and the added possibility of renting airplanes, with our without
a pilot. |
